Holiday Schedules, Jingle Bells, and a Little San Antonio Adventure!

It seems like things are starting to pick up speed around here, and the calendar is quickly filling up with all the things that come along with this time of year!

On the work front, I've officially finished making all the Thanksgiving holiday delivery schedule changes. That's always a big undertaking, especially when you consider that grocery stores don't stop needing deliveries just because the rest of us are celebrating a holiday! Next week, I'll be shifting gears and starting on the Christmas delivery schedules. It's a never-ending cycle this time of year, but it's all part of keeping things moving behind the scenes.

Outside of work, the Christmas concert preparations for Lone Star Symphonic Band have been keeping me busy, too. There are always extra details to take care of as concert day gets closer. This time around, that includes securing a Santa Claus (because what's a Christmas concert without Santa?) and purchasing jingle bells for the audience members. I think that's going to be a fun little addition!

I've also been working on several posters for our year-end giving campaign. These will be incorporated into the concert slides, included in the printed programs, and shared across our social media platforms. We're not only encouraging people to support the band, but also helping them understand the benefits of giving. Donations make a tremendous difference for our organization, but there can be some wonderful benefits for the donors as well. It's a great opportunity to spread a little holiday generosity while supporting live music in our community.

Thankfully, there's a little something fun on the calendar next week, too!

Jeff and I are taking a few days off and heading to San Antonio for a foodie getaway. Rather than filling our days with a long list of attractions and sightseeing, we're planning to concentrate on one of our favorite things: finding good places to eat!

Jeff has been doing some research and found what are supposedly the oldest Tex-Mex restaurant and the oldest German restaurant in San Antonio. Naturally, we're going to have to try both! I love that our little trips often turn into food adventures, and I'm looking forward to discovering a couple of places with some history behind them.

With Thanksgiving schedules behind me, Christmas schedules on the horizon, and the band getting ready for its big holiday concert, I know the next several weeks are going to fly by. But before the really crazy part of the season kicks in, I'm looking forward to a few days away, some good food, and a little time to recharge.

Sometimes you just have to step away from the to-do list for a bit and enjoy the adventure. And if that adventure happens to involve some really good Tex-Mex and German food, even better!
